about my work

I find that I often attempt to capture moments, ephemeral circumstance, and feeling more than simply faces or places. When photographing concerts, I've noticed myself taking pictures of shadows and reflections and audience reactions, while dozens of lenses around me are pointed purely and unwaveringly at the dimly-lit visages on stage.
I think that most folks are so thoroughly caught up in classic aesthetics and in worry of "missing the right moment" that they ignore most of the beauty and nearly all of the "right moments" around them. It is, of course, important to learn from the masters; but retreading their territory endlessly is to miss the point of what they did in the first place by breaking the mould.
Of course, a lot of my work falls into previously-tread realms, and a some of it might not home for some people. And that's fine! Appreciating (or not appreciating) different sorts of art is a wonderful thing. But, if you should find yourself liking my work — I am indeed available for hire. Hit that "Contact" page over there, and watch the magic unfold.
